When the sun sets, the fantastic Soi Bangla (Road) awakens. Bangla Road is considered the liveliest area of Patong Beach on Phuket Island. It is with no doubt the most popular nightlife scene of Phuket. In the evening it gets extremely crowded by young people looking for entertainment. Bangla is the best place on the island for drinking beers, listening to music and getting entertained by girls. Almost every bar is an outdoor venue. Beer Bars occupy the major part of the street, not to mention the several Go-Go bars and a few restaurants, pubs, discos and shops. Did I catch your attention? Kangaroo Bar

One of the most popular venues on Bangla Road is the Kangaroo Bar. It is an extremely famous bar due to the huge collection of CDs played here. The atmosphere is always easy-going and the staff is very friendly. Kangaroo Bar has been here for a very long time.

The prices are typical to Bangla Road prices and the bar attracts numerous tourists. What makes it even more attractive is that the venue is an open-sided bar. Thus, you can sit down, have a drink and watch the world go by in a typical Patong night. The bar opens at 23:00 and is open until morning.

Tai Pan

Opened in 1999, Tai Pan is another popular nightlife venue on Bangla Road. It is famous for offering the most generous prizes in town. While Tai Pan is considered by many a great night club, others say it is a bar. Whatever it is, one thing is sure – Tai Pan is a fantastic place to go dancing and meeting Thai ladies. It opens late afternoon and closes in the morning.

Red Hot

Formerly Margarita’s, Red Hot is a popular club of Patong. It is characterized by huge wide-screen TVs, loud live music, a varied reasonably-priced food specialties and excellent people-watching spots where you can have a great view over the crowds on Bagla Road.

It is not a place to have polite conversation. The music gets very loud and the place is crowded. If you are interested in the real Bangla-feeling, this club is the place to go. It opens at midnight and closes in the morning.

Soi Crocodile

Soi Crocodile is also known as Soi Katoey and it is considered one of Bangla Road’s most photographed scenes. It is famous for the lovely ladyboys shaking “all they’ve got” on the stages. The venue is the major gay area on the road. The prices of drink are typical to Patong’s standards. If you want a small bottle of Thai beer, expect to pay about 80 baht for it. The bar usually opens at 20:00, but it gets crowded around 22:00. (August 2013)
