I am convinced that for many of us Thailand is a place of temples, ancient towns, gorgeous beaches and amazing wildlife. When you think of theme parks, Thailand is not the country that comes immediately to your mind. However, Thailand is home to some spectacular theme parks which will surely be the favorite for kids and adults at the same time. Of course, the best-known and most attractive theme parks can be found in big cities like Bangkok or Pattaya. The theme parks are varied and provide several features, like Safari Parks showing animals in their natural habitats, man-made beaches, horror, and the traditional fun rides and fairs. Thailand also has its own “Cultural Theme Park”, FantaSea which can be found in Phuket. If you are looking for great entertainment, explore Thailand’s fantastic theme parks and shows.

FantaSea Cultural Theme Park

It is one of the best-known theme parks of Thailand. There are some spectacular and unique attractions here. From the Palace of the Elephants Theatre to the Hanuman’s Lair Similan Entertainment Centre, from the Carnival Village Shopping Street to the Tiger Jungle Adventure, visitors will be amazed by the unique cultural shows presented here. The Palace of the elephants is a 3.000-seat state-of-the-art theatre which houses the magnificent theatrical production, the “Fantasy of Kingdom”. At the Similan Entertainment Centre visitors can join in the fun and games with the friendly sea creatures found here. Carnival Village Shopping Street is a great place to buy local products, such as silk, different handicrafts, ceramics, jewels, souvenirs, elephant items and so on. There are also offered cultural parades, pageants, street shows and elephant rides here. There are also great restaurants in the park, such as the Suriyamas Seafood Buffet Restaurant or the Golden Kinnaree Buffet Restaurant. The park is open every day except Thursday, from 17:30 to 23:30. (July 2012)

Dream World

The theme park can be found in Bangkok. It is a big American-style theme park with fantastic attractions, like the well-known Corkscrew, Bumping Cars, Swinging Viking Boat, Rollercoaster and so on. One of the most beloved attractions is the Giant’s House where everything is 50 times as big as its normal size. Fantastic water rides are the Super Splash and White Water Rapids. Dream World also includes a full fledged go-kart track and the spectacular “Snow Land” which is a display of artificial snow. Children will surely adore this park. Dream World is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00. (July 2012)

Siam Park (Siam Ocean World)

Siam Ocean World stands as a landmark of aquatic excitement in the heart of Bangkok. It is Asia’s biggest water park. Located north of Bangkok, this theme park was created around a man-made beach and lake. It is very similar to the American water parks, as the lake has artificially generated waves and sand. There is a wave pool, flowing pool, mini slide and speed slide here. Other attractions include a fair with merry-go-round and carousal. The park also contains a Family World, a fantastic attraction for families with small children. With attractions like merry-go-round, the Jurassic Adventure, the Big Double Shock, the Dinotopia or Adventure Africa, it is a great day out for the family. The park is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 and from 09:00 to 19:00 at weekends. (July 2012)

The Ancient City (Muang Boran)

The Ancient City is located in Samut Parakarn Province. Muang Boran is a “mini-world” which focuses on Thailand’s history and culture. There are represented here all aspects and eras of Thai culture. The site occupies a surface of about 320 acres. The Ancient City has the shape of Thailand and as you wander around the park, you will discover the architecture and spirit of each place. In “northern Thailand” for example you will see a wooden temple that typifies the temples from that area of the country. It is recommended to travel around the site by bicycle which can be rented from the park. This is a great place and a great day out for the whole family.
