A guide to Phuket’s nightlife

Visiting Phuket on your holiday? If you got bored of the beach, sleep a couple of hours during the day and get prepared for a fantastic night spent in one of Phuket’s several entertainment venues. The city’s reputation as a partying hotspot is well deserved. There are numerous and various venues in Phuket, such as go-go bars, ladyboys cabaret shows, discos and clubs. Everyone will surely find the perfect entertainment suiting to their preference. For example, Patong is the most important nightlife centre of Phuket. From nine o’clock the town is buzzing, turning into a vibrant huge crowd and doesn’t stop until the wee hours. Bangla Road in Patong is the epicenter of the action. Here you will find the biggest and most spectacular clubs, the craziest beer bars and the most fantastic shows. Other areas such as Rat-U-Thit Road and Beach Road are also home to some vibrant night venues with good bands.



It is the island’s biggest and most impressive show, with trapeze artists, hundreds of performing elephants and other animals. Its exotic storyline combines tradition with fantasy. You will certainly have a wonderful evening out there and it is a great thing that you can take the kids, too. FantaSea also hosts one of the biggest buffets in Asia, being set in a theme park that offers carnival-like games, lots of shopping opportunities, a Palace of the Elephants, a Similan Adventure Centre and so on. It is a remarkable entertainment venue and a must-visit of Phuket. The park is open every day except Thursday, from 17:30 to 23:30. (August 2012)

Banana Disco


This is the oldest and one of the most popular discos in Patong. It features an outdoor bar area which is located right in front of the disco. This bar usually has a live band until around 11:00 pm. Banana Disco is located on Beach Road, near Bangla Road intersection, close to the entrance of Soi Bangla. The venue is always crowded around midnight, but don’t worry, Banana rarely has any trouble. They play good music and the bar staff is very effective. It is important to mention that their ID policy is very strict, so if you are too young to enter a disco, you better choose another entertainment possibility.

Hard Rock Café


Located on the Rat-U-Thit Road, Hard Rock Café is the latest addition to the Patong live music scene. It can be found at the southern end of Patong. The venue offers a 300-seater restaurant and bar area. It features a Rock Shop which houses some impressive memorabilia from famous stars such as Madonna, Elvis Presley or the Guns N’ Roses. They play nightly music from 20:50 till 01:30. Their restaurant is open daily from 11:00 to 02:00 and there are great talent games which usually take place from 22:00 to 24:00. Simon Cabaret


Visiting the Simon Cabaret show theatre in Patong is a fantastic way to spend the night. There’s amazing saxophone music, plush seats and dimmed lights. You will surely be amazed by the fantastic live performers shimmering with feathers. To avoid the misunderstanding, it is important to mention that the “girls” on stage are actually men. Since 1991 Simon Cabaret has been entertaining visitors with its mélange of camp, glitter and spectacular live shows.
